eat like a hobbit

eat like a hobbit

My 7-year-old and I are currently reading The Hobbit, and the more I learn about Hobbits the more I'm starting to think they have it all figured out. Homebodies by nature, they live a simple but beautiful life of good food, parties and music in a peaceful setting. But most importantly, their eating schedule is the stuff dreams are made of.

Instead of rushing through a paltry three meals a day, hobbits enjoy a leisurely routine of seven daily meals. Seven! Now that I can get on board with. Start with a nice breakfast, followed by Second Breakfast, a nice mid-morning break for Elevensies, then Luncheon, Afternoon Tea, Dinner and a nice Supper to head to bed with a nice full belly.

I've created my own Hobbit meal plan, perfect for a winter day like this one. A snowstorm is currently hammering us with literally more snow than we know what to do with, so I'm going to make like a Hobbit and just cook and serve up warm comfort food all day. I'm not going to lie, writing this made me extremely hungry so I'm off to get a tea cake in the oven in time for Elevensies!
