This piece had so much character and beauty it was a perfect candidate for refinishing. The goal was to keep the historical feel without losing the character, and correct some problems and update the finish so that it fits in a modern home.
39” wide, 16” deep, 36” tall
Sanded and refinished in dark walnut that allows the wood’s character to shine through. Sturdy vintage metal pulls, original keyholes (my favourite detail!) and lined in fresh blue and white toile paper. Beautiful for storage or as a display piece.
Important notes:
The goal was to update but not make it perfect. As antique it has many imperfections, nail holes, marks, etc. that make it one of a kind
The second drawer requires a “lift and close” motion but it does close. Possibly repairable by a more skilled carpenter than myself!
The front left side of the base is missing a piece, see photos. My favourite kind of detail; the stories told by older pieces we’ll never fully know.
